Chuck the Movieguy interviews Robert Downey Jr. for the movie IRON MAN!

It’s Robert Downey Jr. that turns ‘Iron Man’ into a solid piece of entertainment
Perhaps you think the only people who become superheroes are alienated teens (like Peter Parker in SPIDER-MAN) or sullen but elegant billionaires (like Bruce Wayne in BATMAN). Not so, says IRON MAN, which tells the story of carefree industrialist/playboy Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who wears his nickname “the merchant of death” as a badge of honor.

The son of a legendary weapons engineer, Stark has grown up to take over his late father’s business. He’s a firm believer in the idea that no publicity is bad publicity: When a pesky reporter (Leslie Bibb) tries to shame him with tough questions about his lack of ethics, Stark turns on his roguish charm and lures her into his ultra-stylish bedroom for a private interview.

Right off the bat, director Jon Favreau establishes that Stark is no angel and, thanks to Downey’s rough-around-the-edges characterization, he’s not exactly Bruce Wayne-suave either. Turning this unrepentant good-time guy around requires a major crisis, and that’s what happens when Stark makes a trip to Afghanistan to tout his new missile system known as the Jericho, a wonderfully ironic name since Stark’s world will soon be tumbling down….more about the article
